Good girl Gone bad.....

28/07/08- I was waiting for the train some time back, it was a LONG wait (thanks to the ever efficient Ktm) and i noticed a girl whom i studied with back in high school, LK at the station. We never actually spoke to each other, just the occasional nods and the whole 'Hi Bye' routine. Needless to say, i recognized her in an instant. She had her arms wrapped around a guy, who one would presume to be her boyfriend. Snuggling, occasional smooches, giggles and little eskimo kisses came around every other second. Though too much PDA for us Malaysians, they looked like they were totally in love.. They hardly kept their hands off each other. The train FINALLY arrived and i got on it, so did she, but he didn't. He stood outside, and waived her goodbye as the train started to move. LK sat across my seat, legs crossed, and began rummaging through her handbag for somethin that seemed really important to attain at that specific moment. Alas, it was her cell phone... With a quick dial, she put the phone to her ear, waited a moment, and these words came out, "Hey baby its me. I'm sorry I'm late baby, fucking train was delayed,, i'll see you in half an hour okay baby, bye bye." Now WAIT A MINUTE. Let me get this straight. Did I hear what I just heard? Is it what I think it is? Could it? Should it?
I told a few trusted people about this incident, though shocked, everyone tried to give her the ebenefit of the doubt. Even me. Some said it maybe it was her brother on the phone, maybe a relative, someone OTHER than whom i assume it would've been, judging from the conversation i heard. But even so, no excuse or reason made any sense. No one refers to any relative, or sibling as BABY, (at least in the world I live in), and no one would hold a brother or even a normal friend that way at the station let alone snuggle etc. So i told myself, I have to accept the obvious. LK was living a double life. Much to my surprise, later on I found out that this was actually the the norm, among 'Playa' teens, who hop from one partner to another and even have multiple relationships at one go. My question is- What is becoming of this world? Are we so alone, so deprived from the pleasures of life that we have brought ourselves to seek it in unpardonable acts such as this? Was LK so alone, or so desperate that she need to live a lie? I have yet to understand why partners cheat, especially ones who have something good going. I too have been played out before, though i thought i was doing my best and kept her happy, but it all ended when she found someone who showed her a better time. The only excuse, (which is hardly the appropriate word) that I can find after much thought into LK's matter is that either, one such as her has no conscience, or enjoys the thrill of living life on the edge, however wrong it may be. Clearly the hurt extended when the FACADE is UNVEILED has no bearing on her conscience because it doesn't take Einstein to figure out that leading such a distasteful life can only lead to nothing but destruction in the end, which ever party it may concern.
